Cultural Legacy of Africa in Latin America and the Caribbean

Digital Catalogue

We put at your disposal this digital catalog on the Cultural Legacy of Africa in Latin America and the Caribbean. It contains relevant information of sites that are vestiges of an existing past that has often been hidden, a history and memory ignored, little shared and much less visibilized. Through this catalogue, we intend to pay tribute to the memory and contribute to the safeguarding of the cultural heritage of Africa and Afro-descendants in the region. The catalogue is an initiative of UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean. Recovers, in a dynamic and updated way, information about memory sites, institutions, documentary collections, cultural itineraries and some expressions of intangible cultural heritage, linked to African slavery, resistance and culture. We hope that this product will serve as an incentive for experts and scholars to deepen multidisciplinary scientific research and favor the safeguarding of Afro cultures in the region.
