Ecuador - Request from the Revenue Collector from Ibarra

The Revenue Collector of the parish of Ibarra makes a request to the corresponding authorities to make the slaves who work in sugar treadmills, or who rent land to grow maize, cotton and wheat, to fulfil their obligation of paying tithe.

This documents allows knowing that some slaves during the 19th century had huasipungos (plots of land) assigned by the landowner for their subsistence.
