Cuba - Museo Municipal de Güines (Municipal Museum of Güines)

The museum was founded on February 17th, 1982, and was since lodged in several facilities. As of February 24, 2014, it occupies a building of high architectural and historical value built in 1873, the venue of the ancient city hall and municipal council.

Objectives of the institution

The institution keeps unpublished documents on the agribusiness in the agricultural-industrial and cultural region of the valley of Los Güines. It also has an important collection of public records of the local town council related to the social, cultural and economic life of the region from the 18th to the 20th century.

Heritage documents under its protection

Several volumes of the public records of the town hall of Güines, ledgers and others, related to the activity of the Valle de los Ingenios and its population. Documents related with personalities involved erstwhile in the agribusiness of the valley.   

The state of conservation of these documents is fair to good.

This documentation is used for consults by specialists and historians.
