Ecuador - VIRGIN DEL CARMEN

The most significant activity are the lullabies that are sung to the virgin throughout the night, the drums are played and the women do not stop singing lullabies dedicated to the virgin. A procession goes out along the river in the evening. The virgin of El Carmen is one of the most celebrated festivities of esmeraldeños of African origin, although it is also celebrated along the Colombian Pacific coast. The virgin is considered as the Queen of Fishermen.
