Cuba - Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Regla (Church of Our Lady of Regla)

A chapel was built in 1792 to the Virgin of Regla, Patron Saint of the Bay of Havana and the town of Regla. One of the deepest set religious traditions of the population of Havana may be seen each September 8th when the devotees of this virgin associated to Yemayá in the Afro-Cuban religion congregate near the temple to worship the virgin.

The Virgin of Regla is worshipped by many Cubans both Catholic and believers in Afro-Cuban religions, who associate her to Yemayá, the Yoruba deity mother of the main orishas; She is the Mother of Waters for Paleros and Okandé for the Abakuás. Each year a procession takes place on September the 8th.
