Dominican Republic - Ruins of San Nicolás de Bari

The San Nicolás de Bari hospital was the first hospital in America. It was built in 1503 in Santo Domingo de Guzmán, capital of La Hispaniola, presently Dominican Republic. It was founded by Nicolás de Ovando, who at that time was the Governor of the island.
