An organization sensitive to the educational needs of the Jamaican people consistent with the role as the primary institution dedicated to the preservation of Jamaica's cultural heritage.
Objective:
To enhance the awareness of the Jamaican cultural heritage; develop policies and manage programmes for the collection, research, preservation, protection, documentation, analysis, display and dissemination of the Jamaican literature, science, history and material culture.
