La Biblioteca Nacional de Cuba José Martí es depositaria del tesoro patrimonial –documental, bibliográfico, artístico y sonoro– del país, así como de lo más representativo de la cultura universal. Es rectora del Sistema Nacional de Bibliotecas Públicas Cubanas que con más de 411 bibliotecas cubre todo el territorio nacional.
Objective:
As part of its goals it acts as a centre for legal deposit, acquisition, preservation and dissemination of the bibliographic heritage of the country. Moreover, it works as the governing, orientation and control institution for the national public library system. At the same time it is a cultural promoting centre for the community and offer reference and information services, not only humanist but also scientific to the general public.
