The Cultural Heritage Institute (IPC) is launching an action plan in different states throughout the country to reinforce the creation of regional offices with a view to promoting the national identity policy, taking into account the specificities of each area.

To this end, the coordinators of the Regional Cultural Management Offices in the plains, central-east and Andean states held a work meeting with the institute’s Board of Directors, headed by its president, Omar Vielma.

“With this meeting we hope to unify criteria which will enable the creation of an effective field of action in the states with the support of the new offices, to meet the different heritage needs, mainly through the use of multidisciplinary teams specialised in the heritage sphere”, explained Vielma during the activity held in Villa Santa Inés.

He explained to the participants that the Strategic Plan 2016 was aimed at strengthening the regional offices as an effective heritage management formula and at developing community integration plans in archaeological sites.

“We will continue to develop a community-based heritage policy to generate identity values in society. We are convinced that the more we strengthen the regional offices, the closer we will be to the population”, highlighted President Vielma.

At the meeting, he also spoke of the recent agreements reached on technological issues and the use of new procedures designed to dynamise work in the national territory.

“In addition, we will make every effort to improve monitoring mechanisms, and in this respect, training workshops will be conducted on an ongoing basis in restoration and archaeological management, with the participation of artisans,” stated the IPC president.
