The 11th International Heritage Conservation Seminar of the History of Architecture and Heritage Conservation Network (HAYCOP) will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from 9 to 14 November of this year, sponsored by the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), the Centre for Higher Humanistic Studies and the Spanish Language , the Ibero-American University (UNIBE), the ICOMOS Dominican Committee and the Greater Caribbean Organization for Monuments and Sites (CARIMOS).
The present edition of the Seminar, under the slogan Integrated Management of Cultural Heritage: City, Architecture, Nature and Society, seeks to determine how to articulate political, economic, social and environmental policies so as to generate a true integrated economic development that would include heritage as a key factor in the development scenario.
These meetings have taken place since 2005 with the Heritage Conservation Academic Group of the School of Architecture of the Autonomous University of Yucatán. Beginning in 2009, with the Fifth Seminar, the History of Architecture and Heritage Conservation Network (HAYCOP) began to conduct the seminar, which has been held in three other universities of the Mexican Network.
In 2013 the seminar took place for the first time outside Mexico, when Colombia was chosen as its venue. The 10th Seminar was held in Havana, Cuba, in 2014, where it was decided that the 11th Seminar was to take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
