UNESCO Workshop: UNESCO Regional Work Plan for Culture 2016-2021

The UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, and the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO (CNCU) organised a regional workshop that was held on the morning of 18 September 2015, for the discussion and validation of the UNESCO Work Plan for Culture in the region (2016-2021).

The Ministers and officials in charge of Culture of 32 Member States of Latin America and the Caribbean took part in the event. A UNESCO delegation also participated presided over by its Director-General, Ms Irina Bokova.

The UNESCO Work Plan for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean proposes concrete actions to be developed at the national and regional levels during the 2016-2021 period. Its main objective will be to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted during the UN Sustainable Development Summit, held at UN Headquarters in New York from 25 to 27 September 2015.
