On the occasion of the celebrations in honour of the 70th anniversary of UNESCO and in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the Historic Quarter of the City of Colonia del Sacramento on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, the Culture Sector of the UNESCO Office in Montevideo launches a call to design posters on the theme “20th Anniversary of Colonia de Sacramento, World Heritage Site 1995-2015. Culture: a priority for all now!”

This contest forms part of the actions promoting UNESCO’s standard-setting instruments, particularly the 1972 UNESCO Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Contestants must either be Uruguayans or live in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay or Uruguay, the countries of the Southern Cone.

The design should be in keeping with UNESCO priorities, for it should favour the integration of culture and intercultural dialogue in order to foster a culture of peace and non-violence. The poster should be addressed to the general public, 12 years of age and over.

The deadline for applications is 15 November 2015.

The jury will decide on 30 November.
