Through the INFOLAC Web 2005, as the best museum on line with a scientific foundation

The Anthropology Museum Father Sebastián Englert, in Easter Island that belongs to DIBAM, was presented an award by the UNESCO Office in Quito, Ecuador through the INFOLAC Web 2005 Contest, as the best museum on line with a scientific foundation.
The award consists in a UNESCO plate, a banner to be published in the awarded site until the next contest, diffusion through UNESCO-INFOLAC and one thousand dollars, together with a special recognition to the members of the winners’ team.
The staff working in the Museum are: Francisco Torres Hochstetter, director; Pelayo Tucki Make, curator; Verónica Vergara, publicity; Lilian López, library. All of them with the support of journalist and webmaster Alan Cortés.
The contest, first in its type, was organized by the Program for the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean (INFOLAC) of the UNESCO Office / Quito, which appeals to the best museums on line aimed at strengthening the informal cultural education in the Latin American and Caribbean region based on the use of information technologies.
The contest, which received some 80 submissions, also counted with the support of the Presidency of the Dominican Committee of the International Council of Monuments and Sites for Latin America and the Caribbean (ICOMOS), the University of Colima (Mexico) and the International Council of Museums for Latin America and the Caribbean (ICOM- LAC).
The next INFOLAC Web 2006 will award the best websites on health in the region and in 2007 will deal with the best virtual libraries. |
