On 30 January 2015 the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) launched its sixth call for funding requests and its new On-line Application Platform.
The IFCD, established by the UNESCO Convention on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions (2005) provides support to projects that aim to foster the emergence of a dynamic cultural sector, primarily through activities facilitating the introduction and/or elaboration of policies and strategies that have a direct effect on the creation, production, distribution of and access to the diversity of cultural expressions as well as the reinforcement of institutional infrastructures supporting viable local and regional cultural industries.
Since 2010, the IFCD funds 78 projects in 48 developing countries providing around USD 5.3 million, covering a wide range of areas, from the development and implementation of cultural policies, to capacity-building of cultural entrepreneurs, mapping of cultural industries and the creation of new cultural industry business models.
Public authorities/institutions and NGOs from developing countries that are Parties to the 2005 Convention, as well as international NGOs are all eligible to apply.
All applicants are to submit their applications by 15 April 2015, midnight CET (Central European Time) to the IFCD On-line Application Platform.
Applications from public authorities/institutions and local NGOs will undergo a pre-selection process conducted by National Commissions for UNESCO by 15 May 2015, midnight CET.
