Objective:
It was created by virtue of Decree No. 683 dated 28 February, 1979 under the name Comisión de Rescate Aqueológico Submarino. Aimed at creating and implementing a conservation and rescue program of the cultural heritage located in both territorial waters or maritime areas with economic influence for the Dominican Republic. It also prepares inventories, proposes archaeological submarine sites and restores the rescued pieces.
