La Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales (ENAV) forma parte del grupo de instituciones de enseñanza artística de la Dirección General de Bellas Artes, dependencia del Ministerio de Cultura.
La ENAV diploma a sus egresados en Artes Plásticas, mención Pintura, Escultura, Dibujo Publicitario o Cerámica. Se considera como la institución que más ha contribuido al desarrollo de las artes plásticas en la República Dominicana.
Se fundó el 19 de agosto de 1942, con el nombre de Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. La institución en sus inicios contó con el talento y la experiencia de los artistas que vinieron al país como parte del exilio republicano español entre 1939 y 1940, quienes fungieron como profesores y organizadores. De hecho, su primer director fue el escultor español Manolo Pascual.
Objective:
This School founded in August 19th, 1942 had as first teachers Celeste Woss and Gil, José Gausachs and George Hausdorf. Other founders were Manolo Pascual and José Vela Zanetti, among others. This organization was created with the tasks of educating professionals artists for visual arts necessary for the country, and contributing to increase the cultural level of our society with the valuable help of professionals doing both, producing works for the national cultural heritage and teaching visual arts in different parts of the country.
