  General Information:

It is the oldest centre in Latin America that is teaching since its opening, Academia Nacional de Artes Plásticas San Alejandro, only followed by University of Havana. The Academy was founded on January 11th, 1818 in San Agustin convent (Habana Vieja), named in 1832 “San Alejandro” in pleasant memory of Don Alejandro Ramírez, general superintendent and director of the Real Sociedad Económica Amigos del País.
