General Information:
The National System of Archives is responsible for managing the Document Heritage and facilitating notarization of documents in Costa Rica, aimed at preserving and managing the document memory for both present and future generations.
The Archives publishes the Journal Revista del Archivo Nacional, which is divided into fpur main sections: Archival records management, Colaborations (usually on historic research), Transcripts of Documents of the National Archives and Miscelanea.
The institution has also published the Series Cuadernillos del Archivo Nacional, Serie “Qué es y qué hace el Archivo Nacional”, (includes several publications on Legal Framework of the Archives; document reformatting; office classifications and organization; National System of Archives and Institutional System of Archives. Electronic records; Document Assessment and Selection, among other topics), as well as the Memoirs of the XIX Archives Congress, a compendium of the lectures delivered in National Archives Congresses or in International Seminars on Archives held in Costa Rica
