From the sanction to the National Law of Theatre No. 24.800, The National Institute of Theatre was created as a ruling organization for promotion and support of theatre activity all along the country.
The generous faculties granted by the Law to the Institute allow the elaboration, implementation and following of one theatre policy in all the country. Provinces are the main beneficiary of the promotion and support carried out by the Institute, taking into account the federal nature of the Law.
Special attention is given to the national author of plays and also to the groups that perform them by the National Institute of Theatre, so as to boost the theatre activity and to benefit its highest artistic quality and also, making possible the community access to this cultural expression.
Likewise, theatre activities are promoted through competitions, contests, exhibitions and festivals; awards and scholarships are granted, local and regional characteristics are respected and theatre and creation spaces are promoted; at the same time history, performance, instruction and knowledge of theatre is disseminated.
