  General Information:


Its origin goes back to 1928 when the first Caribbean immigrants started to arrive in Cuba.

In 1946 it was oficially established as the British-West Indies Association, sponsored by the British Embassy in Cuba.

In 1978 -with a new structure and due to an agreement among its members- it was given the name of Caribbean Association of Cuba, on a national and international basis.

The strengthening of either the activities carried out by the Association or the bilateral relations among the Association and personalities, has influenced the institution's prestige and recognition. The vast participation of foreigners, specialists, researchers and representatives of the Cuban culture have also contributed to its life.

Its membership nowadays is mainly composed of immigrants and descendants from countries such as: Antigua, Anguila, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Grand Cayman, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinica, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela.

 
  Objective:


- To aim the work towards the admission -as full members within the Association- of people who either have been born in a Caribbean country or have Caribbean descent.

- To foment the developmente of cultural and recreational activities for the enjoyment of its members, as well as carrying out instructive activities such as: lectures, social gatherings, film projections and other activities on the Caribbean countries.

- To strengthen the relations among the Associates and the Caribbean Embassies in Cuba.
