"Dialogue of Drums. From the Dominican Cultural Diversity", is a national cultural initiative aimed at recognising and making visible the expressions of the rich Dominican cultural diversity, highlighting its roots, and promoting the full and equal participation of all people in the different scenarios of society.
This second edition, which will take place in Santo Domingo on 1 and 2 December, is part of the 2015-2024 International Decade for People of African Descent and the 20th anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Precisely one of the panels of the first day of the event, jointly organised by the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Dominican National Commission for UNESCO, will be dedicated to the "Expressions of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Dominican Republic".
The programme of the event "Dialogue of Drums. From the Dominican Cultural Diversity" will stage discussions and the transmission of knowledge from history, music, dance, gastronomy and ancestral traditions, this year with a focus on YOUTH, taking into account the role of young people as drivers of change to achieve a fairer society with better opportunities.
