23 August 2015/ UNESCO Havana/Portal of Culture of Latin America and the Caribbean
Havana will be the venue of the Third Meeting of Ministers of Culture of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) between 18 and 19 September 2015.
H.E. Mr Julián González Toledo, Minister of Culture of Cuba, will offer a reception to the participating delegations on the evening of the 17th, while the meeting itself will be officially inaugurated at 3:00 p.m. the following day, and it will close on 19 September with a cultural gala.
Previously, on the morning of 18 September, a UNESCO workshop will be conducted to debate and validate a regional cultural working plan for the next five years. The main goal of this plan, which will be made available to the CELAC Ministers, is to facilitate the implementation of the UNESCO Culture Programme in the countries of the region, and thereby contribute to the new Sustainable Development Goals that will be adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September of this year.
