4 June 2021/ Paraguay's National Secretariat of Culture

Next Saturday, June 5, the 2021 Pilot Test will be carried out, as part of the 2022 National Population and Housing Census, which will be implemented by the National Institute of Statistics in Zarate Isla, Loma Merlo, Tercer Barrio, Isla Bogado, Cañada Garay , Yukyry, Tarumamdy, Tarumandy 2 and Itapuami 2, Luque’s neighborhoods and in Tacuara and Yukyty, two rural communities in Nueva Italia.

On behalf of the National Secretariat of Culture (SNC), from where work that benefits the Afro-descendant community is carried out, Fatima Baez and Mariela Muñoz will participate in the survey, as observers.

The objective of the consultation is to verify the question addressed to Afro-Paraguayan communities, agreed in working meetings between the National Institute of Statistics, the SNC, associations and people of African descent.

Next year, the National Population and Housing Census will be carried out, with which it is expected to know the number of Afro-descendants living within the national territory.
