UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean launched a call to submit the design of a poster on the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions.
"Respect for Cultural Diversity", by graphic designer Yodanis Mayol and artist Adonis Ferro, was the work selected by a jury of specialists of the culture sector of the UNESCO Havana Office and of the Section on Diversity of Cultural Expressions at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
From among more than 30 submissions, were chosen ten works that present better the principles of the promotion, safeguarding and defense of the diversity of cultural expressions established in the 2005 Convention, one of the most important engines for sustainable development in communities, peoples and nations. The ten short-listed posters will be also promoted and disseminated through the Portal of Culture of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The poster selected will become one of the images through which UNESCO will disseminate and promote the Convention adopted on the 20th of October 2005 and which currently counts on 121 State Parties, twenty-six of them from Latin America and the Caribbean.
