III International Workshop on the Control of Illicit Traffic in Cultural Property. Lima, Peru, 10-12 November, 2014

The Ministry of Culture of Peru, the UNESCO Office in Quito and Representation for Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, and the UNESCO Representation in Peru carried out this Workshop, aimed at cultural, police and customs authorities in charge of the control of the illicit traffic of cultural goods in Latin America.
Specialists from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela and the United States of America attended the event. They participated in panels to share experiences, among them:
• “The process of investigation on cultural property at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)”, by Bonnie Magness Gardiner of the Art Robbery Program (FBI) and Maria Lucy Escamilla, National Programme Officer of the Division of International Operations, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) of the United States; and
• "Creation of the area for the protection of cultural property in the Regional Office of Interpol - Buenos Aires, ", by Marcelo El Haibe, Chief of the Division for the Protection of Cultural Heritage - INTERPOL, Argentina.
