Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture participates in IFACCA meeting held in Havana

The Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean, Herman van Hoof, participated in the meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean members of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA), held in Havana on 19 April 2011.
The IFACCA meeting, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, aimed at analysing the major areas of discussion and the current projects of the Federation's national members, as well as other issues of regional interest in the field of public policies in support of the arts. During the meeting, participants acknowledged the highly productive cooperation between UNESCO and IFACCA.
Sarah Gardner, Executive Director of IFACCA and Santiago Jara, Coordinator for Latin America, attended the meeting in Havana, together with other members of the Board. The Cuban delegation was headed by María Mederos, Culture Programmes Director of the Cuban Ministry of Culture.
IFACCA counts with over 70 member nations from all the continents. Nine of its national members and one of its non-governmental affiliated members are from Latin America and the Caribbean. IFACCA’s Secretariat is based in Sidney, Australia.
